Dr. Mazieyar Azad is a fellowship-trained neurologist specializing in multiple sclerosis and related neuroimmunologic conditions, including neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) and MOG antibody-associated disease (MOGAD). He serves The Neurology Institute in Broward County, where his practice is dedicated to the diagnosis and long-term management of MS and other autoimmune and demyelinating disorders of the central nervous system.
Dr. Azad completed his neuroimmunology fellowship at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. He trained in neurology at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville, where he served as Chief Resident of Quality Improvement and was recognized with awards for clinical excellence, teaching, and research, including the UF Health Resident Research Scholar Award. He earned his medical degree from the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and graduated cum laude from the University of Miami.
An active contributor to the field, Dr. Azad has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national scientific meetings, with a particular focus on biomarkers and disease activity in neuroimmunologic conditions. He is a member of the Americas Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ACTRIMS), the American Academy of Neurology, and the Florida Society of Neurology, and was selected as a Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC) MS Mentorship Forum Scholar.
Dr. Azad is fluent in Persian (Farsi), Spanish, French, and Latin, allowing him to connect with patients across diverse communities.
